The vibration generator uses an eccentric mass to generate vibrations and provides shockless operation at any amplitude. The eccentric mass can be adjusted from zero to a maximum (e) relative to the drive shaft (4) and comprises an outer plate (1) turning freely on a bronze bush (3) fitted to an eccentric hub (2). A gearwheel (9) is solid with, and concentric to, the hub and is driven by a tangentially mounted worm gear (8) from a motor (10) and solid with the eccentric mass (1). The electrical supply is provided by a cable (12) and a rotary collector (14) and a compensating mass (11) is parallel to the drive shaft axis (4).
