Fracture monitor for tube carrying fluid - has spring loaded pistons and reed switches generating signal on leakage

The fracture monitoring system is used for pipelines and hoses carrying liquids or gases in opposite directions e.g. in high pressure hydraulic systems in cranes, excavators and scoop loaders. At either end of the tube or hose section (1) is fitted a sliding hollow piston (10, 11) in a tubular element (2, 3). The pistons form a permanent magnetic transducers (4, 5) and a piston is held on both sides by springs (6, 7, 8, 9). Magnetic field sensing reed switches (12, 13, 15) and an integrated circuit generate a signal when the pistons deviate from their given axial positions. Piston movement is caused by leakage due to tube or hose leakage and a piston movement actuates a switch for signal generation.
