The device comprises a forearm (10, 12) and an upper arm (2, 4) connected together pivotably by a middle bracket (14). Rotational coupling means (6, 20) connect the end of the upper arm to a support (22) fixed to the operator's jacket (waistcoat). A bracket (16) for mounting makes it possible to fix a camera to the free end of the forearm. Elastic means (32, 46) are provided on each of the arms to compensate for the weight of the camera. Each of the arms consists of a pair of pivoting branches (2, 4; 10, 12) forming the sides of a parallelogram. The device makes it possible to keep the camera in a stable position.
