<p>An oven, with recirculating hot air jets near its open base, which can be lowered over a stationary article shrouded in a shrink-wrap film. Articles can be protected temporarily from the heat by a false base on the overhead column on which the oven can rise and fall and by flap valves on the air passages. The oven drops quickly (1.5-2.5 secs.) to shrink and restrain the mouth of the wrapper frist, then rises more slowly (10-20 secs.) to shrink the rest of the film. The hot jets shrink the wrapping from all sides simultaneously more uniformly and with less heat loss than a tunnel oven.</p> |
