A method of consolidating coal seams, in mining operations, includes drilling holes which may be between 15 and 31 m long, and inserting hollow bamboo rods (1) made up of lengths joined to one another. Afterwards, a cementaceous or resin adhesive compound is injected and allowed to harden. The end of each length of rod can be cut in a stepped shape (3) so that it can be interlocked with the similarly shaped end of the next section. Alternatively the ends can be cut across at an angle, and a short piece of tube inserted into the bore (2) to join them. Instead, one end may be pointed, and fitted into the funnel shaped end of the next length.
|
