Sound insulating hollow partition wall construction - with surfaces in contact coated with a plastic flock to reduce noise

Vertical C-section metal wall frame members are coated with an upstanding polyamide fibre flock, electrostatically applied and anchored to the metal with a two-part adhesive. Plaster wall-boards, where they are in contact with the frame are similarly coated, as are any mounting frame members and brackets. The flock separates the contact surfaces of the various components and effectively reduces mechanical transmission of sound through the partition. A particular application is the mounting of sanitary units subject to water noises. The adhesive coating also prevents corrosion. Sound insulation is achieved without the need for solidly built walls.
