1,158,047. Sorting coins. R. C. GDANSKI. 14 June, 1967 [17 Oct., 1966], No. 27353/67. Heading G4X. Coins to be sorted into their various denominations fall down a zig-zag channel on an inclined base-plate 1, the sections 19, 30, 38 and 47 being of progressively narrower widths and the inside bends 29, 42 and 50 connecting these sections being formed as ramps, whereby coins of decreasing size are successively lifted from the sections by the ramps and directed at the succeeding bend to the appropriate coin collector 60-63. The coins are fed from a hopper 4 having inclined side walls 7, 10 to a feed section 13 having an inclined side wall 15. The wall 28 is thinner than the height of a single coin whereby an overlapping coin is directed to an overflow channel 25. The coin collectors are formed with a step to assist stacking. In a modification, Fig. 9 (not shown), the feed section branches into two zig-zag channels whereby the larger coins are deflected into one branch and the smaller coins into the second branch. The bottom surfaces of the channels are flat or slightly bowed. |
