The machine welds and part assembles reinforcement cages for tapered cylindrical lightweight concrete poles, e.g. telegraph poles. The cages have converging longitudinal bars in spiral binding. The bars (B) are pulled through a guide-frame (11) which effects automatic welding and controls the relative bar spacing. The guide frame (11) is of axially horizontal cylindrical form with three circular co-axial diaphragms (14, 42, 12) and peripheral axially parallel members (16). The last diaphragm (12) comprises a guide disc, and the whole assembly, inc. a motorised (34) traction-plate (28), is rotated during the process. The guide-disc (12) has individual bar-guides (19) mounted slideably in radial slots (21), and attached to the intermediary diaphragm (42) by ties (49) to chains (51) in 'L' shaped guide-tubes (53). The diaphragm (42) is moved by jacks (44) relative to the end diaphragm (14) thus, altering the radial station of the bar-guides (19).
