The flash cube has two electrodes sealed into the bulb. An igniting material is connected between the electrodes. The residue of igniting material after its ignition has low resistance. The lamp is ignited by short circuiting and it forms a switch in sequential, switching of flashes in a multiple flash lamp assembly. deflector (18) are provided to direct some of the igniting material (21) after ignition to the sealing area (12). The rest of this material is deposited on the bulb's inner surface so that a d.c. path is formed between electrodes with low resistance.
