1492603 Conveying of cartridges GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 2 Aug 1974 [9 Nov 1973] 34251/74 Heading F3C Articles such as cartridges, are conveyed between longitudinally extending pairs of partitions 14, Figs. 3 and 4, of an outer cylindrical tube or drum 12 by the rotation of an inner cylindrical tube 26, Fig. 1 having members 28 of a longitudinally-extending helix 30. One of each pair of partitions 14, Fig. 4, is provided with a portion 31 and each article has an annular groove 32 to receive said portion 31. Wedging of the articles between surfaces 39, 42, Fig. 3, of prior art partitions 14, 14 (which causes tilting of the articles and, consequently, jamming of the conveyer) is avoided by providing one of the partitions 14 of each pair of provided with a stepped rail 50, Fig. 4, having a face 52 engaged by an end-face 54 of each of the articles. During the conveying of the articles they are guided by the portions 31 and are each rotated about their longitudinal axis by the rails 50. |
