In a fluidic detection device a fluid jet 3 issues from a control nozzle 1 and encounters a detection jet 8 at 9 issuing from a detection nozzle 2 of a detection element 5 and the arrangement is such that should an article 4 or a liquid level break the jet 3 a pressure drop is produced in a chamber 12 thus enabling a spring 15 to move a diaphragm 14 to close the connection 13 and produce a signal at 11 indicating the pressure of an article between the nozzles 1 and 2. An embodiment for use with a washing machine is described with reference to Fig. 8 (not shown).</p> |
