1506823 11-Deoxy-11-hydroxymethylprostaglandins UPJOHN CO 12 Feb 1976 [10 March 1975] 29137/77 Divided out of 1506822 Heading C2C The invention comprises 11 - deoxy - 11- hydroxymethylprostaglandins of the Formulae I and II wherein E 1 is H and E 2 is OH, or E 1 and E 2 together are oxo; Z is cis-CH = CH- or one of A 1 and A 2 is methyl or ethyl and the other is hydroxy; R 1 is H or C 1-4 alkyl; one of G 1 and G 2 is H and the other is acetoxy and R 6 is C 1-4 alkyl and their preparation from the corresponding PGA compounds. The following compounds are also prepared: 11 - deoxy - 11 - hydroxymethyl - PGE 1 and its methyl ester; 11 - deoxy - 11# - hydroxymethyl - PGE 1 ; 11 - deoxy - 11 - hydroxymethyl-PGF 1αand its methyl ester.
