<p>An offshore platform for oil drilling and prodn. consists of an upper floating part with ballast tanks, and a lower anchor part which rests on the sea floor. The bottom of the upper part rests with supporting areas on parallel supporting areas of the lower part. A deformable layer between both areas ensures a uniform distribution of the contact pressure. This eliminates the effect of wave and wind pressure on the legs, normally needed to support a platform deck above sea level.</p> |
