The connector block for the optical fibres of an optical signal transmission link has at least one transverse slot (13) into which the ferrules fitted to the ends of a pair of optical fibres are inserted. Two longitudinal grooves (15) intersect each transverse slot (13) and at least one strap (25) is secured to the base of one of the grooves (15), so as to pass across the transverse slot (13) without contacting its edges. The strap (25) supports screws (30, 31) etc. for retaining the ferrules at the ends of the respective optical fibres against the base of the slot (13). Two straps (25) are positioned on respective sides of the centre plane of the connector each with two screws for retaining the ends of a respective pair of optical fibres.
