1502878 Current connections in strip electroplating NATIONAL STEEL CORP 1 May 1975 [24 July 1974] 18154/75 Heading C7B Strip material to be electro-plated is passed over a partially immersed roll 5 having longitudinal contact segments 15 separated by insulation 17, current being selectively delivered to each segment e.g. by conductors 19 (insulated at 23) passing through a bath seal 37 to a commutator 25 of similar construction. An arcuate anode, which may comprise several electrically separate parts, is used. Brush(es) 33 supply current only to immersed parts of the strip; separate brushes allow varying power supply to the segments (a split anode then being used). Another embodiment Fig. 6 (not shown) utilizes for connecting the commutator and roll proper a "squirrel cage" of conductive rods which pass through a flexible circular seal leaving a peripheral groove engaging the bath. |
