1397957 Detergents containing builders HOECHST AG 14 Sept 1972 [24 Sept 1971] 42706/72 Heading C5D [Also in Division C2] Builders for detergent and cleansing agents comprise water-soluble salts of acid carboxylic acid esters prepared by reacting at least trivalent, 6-10C, aliphatic olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acids or hydroxy-carboxylic acids with aliphatic alcohols (3-6 OH groups), and in which each hydroxylic group of the alcohol and optionally the hydroxycarboxylic acid is esterified with a carboxylic acid molecule. Citric, aconitic, tricarballylic, dihydroxy-tricarballylic, nitrotriacetic and ethylenediamine-tetracetic acids may be used with glycerol, erythritol, pentaerythritol, mannitol, sorbitol or sugar alcohol (4-6 C) and the salts are of alkali metal or ammonium ion. A proportion of 10-80% by weight of salts may be used and then ion-active and/or non-ionic tensides and further conventional additives may be present. Examples describe the use of builders prepared from glycerol, sorbitol or pentaerythritol with nitric acid used with dodecylbenzene sulphonate, tallow fatty alcohol and hardened tallow soap, and also with additional magnesium silicate, sodium silicate, sodium perborate, sodium sulphate and tylose in detergent wash liquors. |
