摘要 <p>Wood-plastics composite materials are made by reacting an ethylenically unsatd. monomer with a ligno-cellulosic material in presence of a peroxide catalyst. The reaction is carried out at a temp. above the catalyst decompsn. temp so that the monomer polymerises and is grafted onto the ligno-cellulosic material. The composite materials contain 20-90 wt.pts. lignocellulosic material and 80-10 wt pts. polymer. At least 30 wt % of the polymer is graft bonded to the ligno-cellulosic material. The composite materials can be processed by moulding or extrusion to give prods. having mech. properties superior to those of the polymer alone. The lignocellulosic material acts as a reinforcement for the polymer and can thus replace more expensive mineral fibres, e.g. glass fibres. The hot water resistance of the prods. is superior to that of prior art wood-plastics composites.</p>
