<p>Matted fibrew web is produced by feeding a stream of fibres to form a fleece which in turn is fed acrss a desired width to a hopper plant in which the fleece is opened into fibres or bundles, the fibres or bundles being then fed to a hopper in which they are compacted into a cohesive web. Appts. includes a carding device supplying staple fibres to a feeding device in which the fibres are formed into the fleece, which is fed by an endless belt conveyor into the nip of a clamping device where a combing drum removes the fibres and feeds them into the hopper. One wall of hopper is vibrated by eccentric rollers to effect the compaction into the web.</p> |
