<p>Covers or linings are spot welded to support structures by rapid induction heating of metallic components or adhesive fillers to fuse or cure the adhesive. Heating of the constituent pieces is promoted by Joule effects from strong Foucault current generation and/or by magnetic hysteressi effects. Used esp. to secure vehicle door linings to door frames or panels by spot bonding at intervals along the lining border using epoxy-resin-based adhesives requiring heating to 100-300 degrees C. Contact or pressure across the assembly is not essential, though opt. desirabl where pressure can be tolerated. Rapid, local heating possible (2-6s) to avoid damage to other heat sensitive material which may be nearby. The open sided heating device is suitable for rapid loading/unloading or assembly line operations.</p> |
