1501251 Assembling force fits GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 26 March 1975 [1 April 1974] 12680/75 Heading B3U The shaft 21 of a dynamo-electric machine 1 is press fitted into a bearing 3 while supporting the inner race 7 of the bearing against axial movement. The bearing itself is press fitted within an end casing 5 of the machine. The end casing is located by pins 53, 55 on a platen 37, and the shaft is forced by an upper ram 107 through the bearing. The inner bearing race is supported by a sleeve 81 and piston 9, the piston being axially locked in place by an hydraulically contractable sleeve 91. Insertion of the shaft is limited by contact of a shoulder 29 on the shaft with a fixed abutment surface 15. Further movement of the ram then compresses a spring 115 and operates a shortcircuiting pin 119 to terminate operation of the ram. |
