<p>In a device for narrow-band picture transmission, in which a data stream produced by data-reducing block-by-block coding of video signals is subjected to an entropy coding process, a synchronising code is transmitted for one frame in each case, further data relating to the respective whole frame and data blocks for in each case a number of blocks depending on the picture content are transmitted which contain a block address, information on the block type, coded video data and a block end character. In a device for entropy coding, the data coded block-by-block can be supplied via a buffer store to a digital signal processor and, furthermore, via registers to address inputs of a read-only memory. The outputs of the read-only memory are connected via further registers to a parallel/serial converter.</p> |
