Auto-loader for spectacle frames to finishing grinder - has reciprocating slide gripping unit fed from magazine for transfer to work seat

The auto-loader may feed partly fabricated spectacle mountings (5) in succession to a finishing grinder and operates at high speed. The machine has a horizontally reciprocating slide-transporter (A) which moves from under a vertical magazine 4) to a position over a workpiece seat (S) at the grinding station. Co-ordinated mechanisms permit one piece (5) to drop from the magazine (4), clamp it in place on the slide (A), and transfer it to the seat (S). A cantilever blade (25) extends from the slide in the direction of advance, and the motions of the slide in conjunction with those of straddling forked elevator mechanisms are used to manipulate the pieces. A mobile (22) and a static (23) jaw secure the piece on the slide (A) at the magazine (4).
