PURPOSE:To provide a coated cutting tool having high adhesive strength to a base material for a coating layer and capable of coping with high speed cutting. CONSTITUTION:In a coated cutting tool, a base material consists of silicon nitride-silicon carbide compound ceramics, and the silicon carbide is contained in the compound ceramics by 5-40vol.% and 50 % or more of the silicon carbide is also dispersed in silicon nitride particulates to be formed as a matrix while keeping the particulate diameter in a nano meter order or in 10 nano meter order. |
