<p>A short truncated cone (5) has a flange (6) at its wider end which is gripped between the flanges (2, 3) of the carburettor and inlet manifold. The cone is made of perforated metal and serves to make the mixture coming from the carburettor more homogeneous. An internal plate (9) of solid metal twisted in the form of two helical blades with an axial slot (13) between them is inserted in the cone. It is attached to the wide end of the cone by its edges and rests on the closed small end of the cone. The helical blades deflect the entering fuel air mixture and throw it against the sides of the cone in a turbulent stream.</p> |
