A process is described for preparing high-density boron nitride crystals from low-density boron nitride crystals for use as abrasive particles. The process starts from recrystallised, pyrolytic boron nitride. This is subjected to a dynamic shock treatment in such a way that pressure and temperature conditions are generated therein, in which the high-density boron nitride modification is stable. The high-density boron nitride particles thus obtained have a particle size of at least 50 mu m. <IMAGE> |
