The high pressure pump has adjustable output volume and a gas spring tensioned operating piston, which limits pump chamber located opposite to it and it is equipped with a suction valve and a pressure valve. The separating piston is subjected to pressure from the pump chamber on that side facing away from the spring and the separating piston is movable under a pre-set pressure in the pump chamber against spring tension, whilst the drive revolutions of the pump remain constant.
