1498280 Sliding clasp fasteners YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 10 Sept 1975 [25 Sept 1974] 37222/75 Heading E2S [Also in Division D1] A sliding clasp fastener stringer 10 comprising a warp-knitted tape 11 having longitudinally-extending alternate wales 13 and interwale grooves 14 and a row of interlocking fastener elements 12 each having an interlocking head 15 and two legs 16, 16 and mounted on, and along, one longitudinal edge portion of the tape, and an anchoring wale 13b neighbouring an innermost wale of the tape is greater in height and width than the innermost wale and is adapted for fitting engagement with a recess 18 formed in one of the two legs of each element. Supporting interwale grooves 14a, 14b located on opposite sides of the enchoring wale 13b are essentially greater in width than the remaining interwale grooves and are adapted for the passage of sewing threads 19 therethrough, whereby the knit fabric of the tape, including that of the anchoring wale 13b, the innermost wale 13 and supporting interwale grooves 14a, 14b, is brought into pressure engagement intimately with said one leg of each element by the sewing threads into position on the tape. Each warp-knitted tape 11 of a concealed type fastener is formed of chain stitches A which form the wales 13, tricot stitches B in the lay of 1-2/1-0, Satin stitches C in the lay of 0-1/4-3, and warp threads D with the interwale grooves 14 formed warpwise between adjacent wales 13, a yarn of greater dernier or, a plurality of yarns held together, being employed for the second row of chain stitches A to render the second wale 13b higher and wider than the remaining wales 13. The supporting interwale grooves 14a, 14b are crushed under the influence of sewing pressure in order to increase the area of contact between the tape 11 and the element 12. A stringer (10).
