The carpet-fitting tool combines the functions of a spatula and a straight-edge knife-guide. The tool comprises a plate of hard durable material, of uniform assymetric 'U' section and with rounded external corners (4) to the major leg (3). The extremity of the longer leg (3) of the 'U' may form the straightedge to guide a knife of the type with interchangeable blades. When used as a straight-edge the tool is placed on the carpet surface with the smaller leg (2) of the 'U' beneath and inclines to form a definitive cutting arrisse. The edge with the 'U' formation may be used to stretch and flatten the carpet.
