1-Acyloxy-1-phenyl-2-triazolyl or imidazolyl-ethanes (Ie and their salts are novel cpds., (where R is halo, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphonyl, haloalkyl, nitro, cyano, opt. substd. phenyl or opt. substd. phenoxy; R1 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, haloalkyl, opt. substd. phenyl, phenylalkyl, phenoxyalkyl, amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, alkyl-alkylcarbonyl amino or opt. substd. phenylamino; A is CH or N; and n = 0-5). They are used as plant protection agents against plasmodiophoromycetes, oomycetes, chytridiomycetes, zygomycetes, ascomycetes, basidiomycetes and deuteromycetes. They may be used to control Erysyshe, Podosphaera, Venturia e.g. Fusicladium dentriticum and rusts and mildews of cereals. They may be used to control roots or seeds of plants. They may be used to control parasites, such as nematodes active against plants e.g. Pratylenchus spp. Radopholus simis, Ditylenchus dipsaci etc. They are formulated opt. with other active cpds., such as fungicides, nematocides, insecticides, herbicides acaricides etc. by classical methods.
