<p>The ultra-high-frequency and infra-red detector with temperature stabilisation, consists of a triple-layer detector screen (1) held in rings (2) in a gas-tight light box (5). The housing has a window at each end (6), transparent to the wavelengths under investigation. At least one of the windows at an angle below The Brewster angle to reduce reflection interference. A toroidal ultra-violet light source (4) is inclined to the screen and illuminates the temperature-sensitive phosphorescent layer. The middle layer of the triple-layer screen is an absorbent metal foil and the outer layer is a thermally-insulating one. The composite screen is held at constant temperature by a thermostatically-controlled heater (9). The enclosure may be evacuated by means of a valve (11)or filled with an inert gas to further improve the thermal characteristics and sensitivity range.</p> |
