Adhesive strip pressure applicator - has air cushion unit which applies strip without folds onto beam

The arrangement consists of a beam (3) which can be moved up and down by an actuator (1). Two guide columns (2) at the end of the beam ensure that the beam remains level. An air cushion (4) is mounted underneath the beam over its whole length. The section of the air cushion is rounded so that it is thickest along the centreline of the beam. The inside of the air cushion is connected to an air supply. When the beam is lowered on to a strip which is pressed down, the cushion will first make contact along the centreline of the adhesive strip and then spread out sideways over the strip.
