PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided to connect a driving IC by using a space formed by side surfaces of a backlight and stack the driving IC by using a COF, thereby making the LCD compact. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate(111), a first polarization plate(113) disposed at a lower part of the first substrate, a backlight(115) at a lower part of the first polarization plate, a second substrate(112) disposed on the first substrate and exposing a part of the first substrate, a second polarization plate(114) disposed on the second substrate, and a printed circuit board(PCB:118) for generating signals. A chip on film(COF:117) has an end connected to the exposed end of the first substrate and the other end connected to the printed circuit board. The COF is formed in the U-shape and a drive IC(116) of the COF faces the PCB. The highest part of the PCB and the driving IC are positioned to side surfaces of the backlight.
