The hammer crusher has rotor with grate consisting of rods arranged concentrically around the centreline and fitted with a housing part of which is hinged to allow inspection of the grating. The housing contains two rotors rotating on horizontal parallel shafts. The rotors carry fours rows of freely rotating crushing elements. The gap between the two rotors is provided with a saddle roof-shaped anvil bar to distribute the material evenly towards both rotors. In the downwards direction the housing is provided with a set of grating rods resting on arch-shaped rod supports. The grate basket has an eyelet pivoting on an axle to allow the basket to be swung out from the housing.
