Conventional rainwater gulleys and an auxiliary rainwater gulley are provided on the receiving surface (12) of a building (1) with a flat roof structure. The auxiliary gulley comprises a trough (10) into which the upper end (9a) of a discharge pipe (9) opens. The upper edge (10a) of the trough (10) is higher than the edge of the upper end (9a) of the discharge pipe (9). In the trough (10) there is arranged a tubular ring (13), the lower part of which is fitted in the trough (10) and the upper part of which projects upwards, approximately 50 mm to 80 mm beyond the level of the upper edge (10a) of the trough (10), and forms a blocking edge (14). If the rainwater level, when the normal gulleys are blocked, goes over the blocking edge (14), the rainwater is channelled away through the auxiliary gulley. The auxiliary rainwater gulley can be erected on the house roof in exactly the same way and at the same level as the conventional rainwater gulley systems. With the exception of the blocking edge (14), it is similar to the other gulleys and does not require any assembly work. The discharge pipe (9) opens directly above the road surface, with the result that no icing up over a large surface occurs. <IMAGE>
