The hollow-chambered gravestone memorial (1) may be in the form of an upright pillar, a slab lying flat on the grave, or a cross. It is made of thin-walled plastic, metal or other material, shaped as a hollow unit, open at the bottom. This is thrust onto a retainer unit (6) anchored in the grave site, where it is firmly fixed, or weighted with a loose filler. The wide surfaces can be connected by reinforcing ribs (3), forming a series of chambers (4) running lengthways, which may be sealed by cover panels (5) of plastic or other non-corroding material.
