<p>A mattress cover, designed to slip over a mattress on a bed, is formed from a seamless tubular fabric which is made in a stretch knit construction. Intended for single beds, the mattress cover clads the mattress without rucking or folding, and is cheap and simple to manufacture. The stretch knit tubular fabric is constructed so that in the relaxed state its width is smaller than the mattress it is to cover, while its stretched length at least matches the length of the mattress. The fabric is knitted, to give it a stretch character, using a yarn to give the material 15-50% of synthetic fibres, the remainder being of cotton. One end of the tubular fabric section is seamed shut, while the other end is fitted with a closure. Alternatively, the tubular fabric can be a frotte.</p> |
