<p>The telescopic arm (1) for supporting microphones or lamps in a film studio consists of three square section tubes (4, 5, 6) fitting one inside the other. The upper tube (6) is attached to a hook (12) to enable it to be clamped to an overhead support (3). A flexible steel tape (10) has one end attached to the hook (12) and then runs inside the tubes (4, 5, 6) to be fixed to a drum inside the housing at the base. The drum is fitted with a spring loaded brake which holds the arms (4, 5, 6) in the desired position. A lever enables the brake to be released in order to change the extended length of the telescopic arm. An emergency catch is fitted inside the tube (4) to hold the microphone in the event of the tape (10) breaking.</p> |
