The engine is provided with an inlet manifold depression dependent exhaust gas recycling system. The combustions chambers are semi-spherical and contained mainly the cylinder head. The exhaust ports of the front and rear cylinders have a common manifold. The fuel air ratio is pref. between 13 and 16, the exhaust gas feedback rate being between 25% and 40% of air intake volume. Each combustion chamber is provided with two spark plugs. The respective spark plugs produce a spark whose centres are opposite to each other or symmetrical to the cylinder bore axis. The distance between the spark centres (L) lies between 0.4 to 0.8 times the cylinder dia. (D).
