Supersatd. aq. solns. of isosorbide dinitrate (I) are new. They have (I) content above that of satd. solns. at room temp. up to 2.5g/1, esp. 1-2g/1 and may contain usual isotonic materials such as NaCl. The solns. are prepd. by completely dissolving (I) in an aq. medium at high temp., transferring to a container, opt. after filtering, and then cooling. The soln. is pref. prepd. at 50 degrees esp. 80 degrees C. The solns. may opt. contain a physiologically acceptable organic solvent, specifically 1,2-propylene glycol, which can replace all the water. (I) is used for the treatment of angina pectoris, cardiac insufficiency of the left ventricle, myocardial infarctus and at the start of pulmonary oedema. More conc. solns. of (I) are obtd.; and these supersaturated solns. are stable for several months.
|
