Concrete railway sleeper broken screw shaft removal - using activating bolt butt welded to broken surface and subsequently reusable

The process for removing screw shafts which have broken off in a hole, esp. in a screw dowel (2), is applicable to the renovation of concrete railway sleepers (1). It involves connecting the screw shaft to an activating bolt for drawing it out. The activating bolt is butt-welded to the broken face of the screw shaft. After unscrewing the shaft, it can be cut off just above the welding point, to be used again. An electric welding device can be used, with its electrode forming the activating bolt; or the bolt can be a metal tube with a holes insulating plug at the top for insertion of an electric welder's electrode.
