1505799 Alkaline primary cells ESB Inc 15 Nov 1976 [15 March 1976] 47510/76 Heading H1B An alkaline primary cell having a dipolarizer mix of a blend of mono- and di-valent (maximum 70%) silver oxide has a surface layer of silver formed, either before or after introduction into the cell, by a reducing agent, e.g. hydrazine or formaldehyde. The electrolyte is potassium hydroxide and the negative electrode may be a gel of zinc in guar gum or carboxy methyl cellulose with potassium hydroxide. The separator may have a barrier layer of, e.g. a layer of polyethylene between layers of cellulose material, and an absorbent layer of cotton fibres or micro-porous polyethylene. The depolarizer blend may include P.T.F.E. The casing may have a double top with a moulded collar of nylon or polyethylene. |
