1. An optical instrument for light incoming along a principal optical axis, the optical instrument comprising:
a glass block; and a subsurface object within the glass block, the subsurface object including an arrangement of object marks; wherein each object mark includes a plurality of scattering layers stacked against the principal optical axis of the incoming light, wherein first and second scattering layers of the plurality of scattering layers have different polarization responses such that a complete image of each object mark is generated regardless of an extent to which the light is polarized, wherein each scattering layer includes a set of parallel intrinsic scattering tracks, and wherein first and second intrinsic scattering tracks of the set of parallel intrinsic scattering tracks for a respective one of the scattering layers have different scattering polarization effects. |
