<p>1421881 Molten glass feeder EMHART CORP 11 April 1974 [16 April 1973] 16088/74 Heading C1M A molten glass feeder apparatus for forming gobs for delivery to a glassware forming machine includes a feeder bowl 10 having an outlet spout defined by an annular curb 18, a vertically reciprocating plunger 14 and a rotatable tube 16 surrounding the plunger. The height H of the tube 16 above the curb 18 is adjustable. The tube 16 and the motor M1 for rotating the tube are mounted at opposite ends of cross arm 28. This cross arm is mounted on a tubular support rod 50 at the balancing point of the cross arm. The weight of the tube drive motors and cross arm are counterbalanced by a tension spring 80 carried on a fixed support the other end of which is connected to rod 50. The rod 50 is slidably received in spaced bearings 44, 46 mounted on a C-shaped frame 42. At the lower of the rod is coaxially arranged a threaded shaft and nut device 64, 66 for raising and lowering cross arms and tube 16. The nut is resiliently connected to the support rod 50. An electric stepping motor M2 is provided for rotating the threaded shaft 64 through incremental angular displacements thereby varying the height H. The motor M2 is controlled by a solid state control circuit.</p> |
