The food whisk or beater comprises a metal handle (2) with an inner faster for the free ends of the metal wires (1) wherein part of the wires projects from a metal section (12). The section consists of a heat-setting water-tight adhesive or casting resin which contains a sufficient admixture of film-forming aluminium in order to coat each wire (1) at the outlet point. The wires are mounted about an assembly member (10) which is provided with longitudinal grooves with the ends of the wires protruding from the underneath. This assembly member can be completely immersed in the heat-setting fastening composition (8) which is in contact with the sealing composition (12). The food whisk manufactured in this way can be sterilised either chemically or by boiling and there is no danger of any ingress and build-up of food around the entrance to the handle.
