<p>This invention is directed to an improved method of forming and installing polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) lip seals and to a novel PTFE lip seal. The lip seals are formed by taking a flat, annular PTFE washer having given dimensions and stretching it over a tapered mandrel by pushing it toward the direction from which the fluid pressure will come in the sealing operation. The finished PTFE lip seals have a curved configuration. Both O.D. and I.D. lip seals are disclosed.</p> |
