Antiinflammatory compsns. consists of an inert carrier (I), or, where they are basic, their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addn. salts, (R is H or (X)nR1; X is O or S; n = 0 or 1; R1 is 1-8C alkyl, 7-8C aralkyl, 3-8C cycloalky, 4-8C cycloalkylalkyl, R2 and R3 are each halo, 1-3C alkyl, 1-3C alkoxy or di(1-3C alkyl) amine). (I) are topical antiinflammatories, typically they have LD50 (p.o. mice) >1 g/kg and sometimes >1.5 g/kg. They are applied as conventional ointments, lotions etc. to provide >1 mu g/12 cm2. 3-Methylthio-5,6-bis)4-methoxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazine is already known as an antibacterial.
