An electrical switch with two positions has open contacts at the two extreme positions. It closes one set of contacts when moving in one direction and another set of contacts when moving in the opposite direction. It may be operated by a lever or a push-button. The switch has a moving contact (18) which comes into contact with a fixed contact (8) when the lever (5) moves in one (7) of two directions (7, 9). In the other direction (9) the moving contact (8) comes against another fixed contact (10). The moving contact (18) is separated from any one of the two fixed contacts (8, 10) when the lever is either in one of two extreme positions (5,2, 5.3). The switch lever (5) drives an insulating material sleeve with a boss (14). The boss (14) actuates a rocking mechanism restrained by a spring. The rocking mechanism moves the moving contact (18).
