<p>Connection between the drive and the stirrer shaft of a laboratory-scale stirrer, made of glass, includes an intermediate shaft mfd. from a flexible, smooth, plastics and having a broadened lower portion. The stirrer (made of glass) is provided with a screw-thread such that the broadened portion of the intermediate shaft can be screwed to it with the aid of a plastics, open-ended screw-cap. The upper end of the intermediate shaft is connected with the (metal) drive shaft by means of a connecting sleeve with grub screws. A flexible, easily mounted, connection between drive and stirrer shaft is established which also functions as a slip coupling if the appts. is overloaded. Pref. the plastics is either sintered PTFE or a polyamide.</p> |
