Good heat insulation and sound insulation in a window with only one pane (8) and frame (1, 4) comprising plastic profile bars can be achieved if, in addition to the glazing, a window sash is fitted on the inner side of said glazing. An insulating cavity is formed between the two glass panes. The frame of the additional sash is located in a rebate which is formed by the glazing bar (11) which is set back with respect to the inner visible surface. The glazing bar (11) is provided with a peripheral seal (19) which bears on the frame (16) of the additional sash in a sealing manner. Strap hinges (21) are fitted on the frame (16) of the additional sash, with the result that the additional sash can be pivoted upwards for cleaning the window. <IMAGE>
