The stabilising and aligning element (25) is of a slightly smaller width than the groove width of a structural profile of a window- or doorframe. The stabilising and aligning element (25) can thus be inserted from outside into a groove having said groove width and, thereafter, can be displaced into a position in which it covers a joint (11) of the two adjacent structural profiles, the window- or doorframe consequently being stabilised and aligned. Such a stabilising and aligning element (25) can also be installed subsequently, after the window- or doorframe has been mounted. <IMAGE>
